Don’t tell the kids but the benefits of playing Crozzit are much more than bragging rights over a sibling or best buddy. Young brains get a good workout while sitting at the kitchen table. Board games help children develop logic and reasoning skills, improve critical thinking and boost spatial reasoning. Basic skills like paying attention and the ability to concentrate and focus are lifelong habits that can be nurtured in a round or two of Crozzit. The judges at Creative Child agree—they just award Crozzit Game of the Year!

To start, pick a color – yellow or blue – and carefully make a path across the grid. Two edges are blue, and two are yellow. Each player gets 30 small tiles, 1 large and 1 extra large tile. In a nutshell, Player 1 needs to make a blue line connecting the 2 blue sides of the board as Player 2 connects the yellow sides using the yellow tiles. The challenge is to get across, first, while at the same time blocking your opponent.

There are only 18 steps from one side to the other, so you’re never far from victory, but no game is ever that easy! Crozzit comes with a few rules – a tile can’t be placed on the edge of the board. Tiles must touch at least one side to be connected. Instructions with illustrations are tucked into every game box. As each game is completed in about 20 minutes, a few strategies emerge that can be used again, thus making this an enduring and endearing way to spend some down time!

This game looks easy enough but there are twists from the first step to just 17 more. Created for two players, only one can win and earn boasting rights. Player 1 makes a blue line connecting 2 blue sides of the board. Player 2 connects the yellow side but uh oh! The motto on the box reads, “the game you always almost win!” because those last few steps are always trickier than you think. Fun, strategy and challenge combine for a memorable time with siblings, friends and grownups. The game has 3 rules, 2 players and 1 winner!
